How to Track Your Campaign URL in Google Analytics (Simple Method)
Have you ever wondered how to really track your link effectively so you will finally figure out from where the heck all traffic comes from?
Believe me, I had the same issue a few years ago, when I was promoting my business on various websites and on one of my partner´s youtube channels. Yes I got traffic but it looked pretty much like this:

Annoying right? Many times it happens, you promote your link on various forums, youtube channels, articles, or blogs and google analytics will show you a source of your traffic as a direct or other terms which won't tell you more about your marketing strategy.
Let's say I'm advertising our website also on a DigitalPoint forum, where all internet marketers are searching their answers on a daily basis. We got a lot of traffic from this forum, but we were not sure if all visitors come just from DigitalPoint, because it was in GoogleAnalytics under Acquisition as a: Direct
...but now?
After we applied this simple tool, we can see our traffic comes from under the title we defined as a: DigitalPoint Forum:

How do I create a tracking link?
It's very simple and you won't need any of those URL shortener services like bit.ly, TinyURL and others.
Everything that you need is: Campaign URL Builder from google
I love this tool because it allows you to choose the name of the campaign and the most important the source, and of course other parameters.

Let's explain what those parameters mean and how to create your custom campaign tracking link.
1. Website URL - you paste there your URL link, so the link of your blog or store.
2. Campaign Source - it's your referrer, so you can put any name of website, forum, google where you promoted your link.
3. Campaign Medium - here you put whatever you wish, but the best is to write down something that describes your campaign, CPC, Banner, email, etc.
4. Campaign Name - you name your campaign, in our case, it is DigitalPoint Forum
5. Campaign term - If you use keywords for your campaign, you write them down
6. Campaign Content - use this field to differentiate the ads.
After you set up everything you will get your special URL which you can start to promote across different platforms, social media or in any ads.

REMEMBER: in order to track your URL in GoogleAnalytics, your URL must be associated (connected) with your Google Analytics account.
